Pihak Hollywood Foreign Press Association selaku penyelenggara Golden Globe Awards ke-76 yang akan berlangsung pada 6 Januari 2019 nanti sudah mengumumkan nominasi pada Kamis (6/12) waktu Amerika Serikat.

Dalam nominasi yang terbagi dalam 25 kategori tersebut, sejumlah film banyak mengantongi nominasi Vice menjadi film dengan raihan nominasi terbanyak sebanyak enam nominasi, termasuk Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, dan Best Director Film The Favourite, Green Book, dan A Star Is Born semuanya bersaing ketat menjadi film kedua dengan raihan nominasi terbanyak dengan masing-masing lima nominasi.

Para pemain film tersebut, seperti Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Mahershala Ali, Bradley Cooper, dan Lady Gaga pun juga kebagian nominasi dalam Golden Globe 2019 ini Selain itu, kejutan datang dari Black Panther. Film ini menjadi film superhero pertama yang menerima nominasi kategori Best Motion Picture - Drama, di samping mendapatkan jatah nominasi Best Original Song.

Sebelum Black Panther, ada film superhero The Dark Knight yang mendapatkan nominasi dan memenangkan Golden Globe Award berkat penampilan Heath Ledger yang ikonis menjadi Joker Film Crazy Rich Asians mungkin bisa menghebohkan pasar Amerika Utara, namun bagi juri Golden Globe Awards, film ini hanya memberikan kesan untuk dua kategori.

Sedangkan dari sisi tayangan televisi, serial The Assassination of Gianni Versace menjadi yang terbanyak mendapatkan nominasi Golden Globe dengan empat nominasi.

Setelah The Assassination of Gianni Versace, ada The Americans, Barry, Homecoming, The Kominsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Sharp Objects, dan A Very English Scandalbersaing ketat dengan masing-masing tiga nominasi.
